**ON-TIME CLOSING**
Wednesday 30 September 2009 is on-time closing date for UAC undergraduate applications. Students must submit their online application - with at least one course preference - by midnight on that date. They then have until 6 January 2010 to add to/change their course preferences.
Applications received after 30 September will incur a late fee.
HSC FINAL PREPARATION LECTURES will be held at the University of Sydney from Sunday 4th – Saturday 10th October 2009. Brochures with details are available from the careers office.
UIC (a member of Group Colleges Australia) has made available a number of cash Scholarships for their Bachelor of Accounting and Bachelor of Business degrees in 2010. If you are interested in finding out more details contact Hank Martin on 0411 462 937.
UNI of Tas offers a fast track Nursing Degree in Sydney. The entire course is taught at St. Vincent’s and Mater Health running over two years or six semesters. Applications are assessed by the UTA’s. You must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or permanent resident. Register your interest in the course online to receive an information pack. After you receive your information pack complete the application online by the closing date 30 September 2009.

University of Wollongong is running its second Engineering Summit for Young Women, to be held 11-15 January 2010.
This is a great event, aimed at girls from throughout NSW who are entering Year 11 in 2010 and who do well in maths and science, and who would like to know more about a career in engineering.

Certificate III in Dental Assisting, Traineeship Program
HCF is one of Australia’s largest health insurers. They will offer a traineeship program which will be commence in February 2010 for a period of 12 months providing an excellent opportunity to gain practical work experience while completing the Certificate III in Dental Assisting. Careers in Automotive Industry
Autostart is backed by MTA Apprenticeships Plus and offer Pre-Apprenticeship Courses for Year 10 to 12 School leavers who are interested in a career in the Automotive Industry.

NSW Government Cadetships
The NSW Government is offering cadetships in office administration and customer service, assistants in nursing farm assistants and information technology support.
At the end of 12 months, the cadet will be permanently employed in the NSW Public Sector.

News from Charles Sturt Uni
As part of the application process for Pharmacy, Veterinary Science and Dentistry at Charles Sturt University, a supplementary application form must be submitted. These are available online from 1 August every year. They must be received by CSU no later than 30 September. To download a form just visit www.csu.edu.au and search for the desired course. Scholarships
The School of Business is currently offering five $3,000 scholarships ($1k per annum), available to those HSC school leavers who apply for the Bachelor of Business (Marketing) program via PREP. Three scholarships will be offered to those students looking to attend on-campus at Bathurst, and two scholarships for on-campus at Albury. Standalone degrees offered at CSU
With the suspension of two double degrees at Charles Sturt University (CSU) - Bachelor of Arts (Graphic Design)/Bachelor of Arts (Multimedia) and Bachelor of Arts(Photography)/Bachelor of Arts (Multimedia Arts), school leavers interested in these areas are investigating the standalone degrees offered at CSU. Flexible entry for the Bachelor of Social Work Course – UAC Code 511615
Flexible entry is available into the Bachelor of Social Work course for UAC applicants with up to five (5) points lower than the required cut-off score (ATAR), and on the basis of achievement of Band 4 or above in English and one other category A HSC subject at Band 4 or higher. No separate application is necessary as the Faculty will automatically consider applicants whose score falls up to a maximum of 5 points lower than the cut-off - of course, students wanting to be considered will need to list the course as one of their preferences.

New Bachelor of Education in Early Childhood (0-5years)

BACHELOR OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION
Applications for First Semester 2010 are now open. On time applications close on Monday 30 November 2009.
Students from the Northern Sydney Institute of TAFE (Bradfield, Crows Nest, Hornsby, Meadowbank, North Sydney, Northern Beaches and Ryde Colleges) who have completed one of the following courses with a credit average or higher may apply online directly to Macquarie for admission to the Bachelor of Business Administration:
- Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management
- Advanced Diploma of Business
- Advanced Diploma of Marketing
- Advanced Diploma of Management
Successful applicants who have completed the relevant modules in one of the above courses will receive 24 credit points towards their Bachelor of Business Administration.
Students who have completed a previous version of one of the above courses, e.g. the Advanced Diploma of Business (Marketing) or Advanced Diploma of Business Management, may submit an application however their credit for previous studies will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

Managing HSC Stress Program

This is a 4-week program for students who are currently completing year 11 and year 12.
The program aims to assist students to better manage the stress of the HSC and teaches a broad range of skills that can be helpful in any stressful situation. It can also be useful for students who are struggling with anxiety, low self-esteem or low mood.
The next program will be run in Term 4 2009 starting on Monday 2nd November. Sessions will run from 4pm – 5.30pm.
The Managing HSC Stress Program is run free of charge however bookings are required.
